The Mayhemic way of the Biolo by Meep
Introduction
Hello, I am Meep, and I've been playing MuhRO for months now. I started as a Biolo and still am one. I'm not very good at anything math-related, so if you have any questions about math, I'm not the guy for that—lmao. I know biolo but im not an expert so please reach out to me if you think something is wrong with the guide, thanks (meep0_o)
I'm making this guide to help beginners navigate from the early game to the endgame. This guide will not cover all gear options, especially those I deem wasteful, as acquiring such gear wouldn’t significantly improve farming efficiency in the areas I'll be mentioning.
This guide focuses on Biolo, starting with the Mayhemic Thorns build. I may add more builds in the future (or when Time Gap comes).
Big thanks to Sagii and Kosetsu for the help with the guide!
Why play Biolo?
Play what ever you think is fun. You may or may not like Biolo gameplay so I would list down some pros and cons
So why play Biolo?
- As a Merchant class, Biolo grants us many quality-of-life skills like
Enlarge Weight Limit.
- Has free Guyak from Cart Boost and a massive weight capacity, making farming easier and more efficient.
- Can create potions and food that provide stat buffs.
- Generally easy to gear, and its equipment can be shared with other crit-build jobs.
- It is a good farmer, even in the latest dungeons.
- Has a homunculus that provides buffs and helps with tanking.
- One of the best instances farmers.
So why not play Biolo?
- The damage of Biolo cannot compete with other magic-class jobs or some physical-class jobs in the late game.
- Some skills require a consumable to be used.
- Not magic
- Magic classes dominates the end game dungeons.
Skills
Relevant Skills
Mayhemic Thorns: The skill that you would be using a lot. It is a 9x9 AoE range skill that the damage can be boosted by
Research Report and
Hell Tree. Every skill cast recovers 2 AP so make sure to use it (or else you wont do damage)!
Research Report: Makes your
Mayhemic Thorns damage bigger. Buffs Acidified damage against formless and plants. Try to have this active at all times.
Hell Tree: Buffs your range damage and against formless. I don't usually use this unless I'm killing MvPs or for High end dungeons.
Blood Sucker: Gives you a chance to absorb the damage you dealt as HP. Basically like a
Succubus Egg (9055)
Cart Boost: The best movement skill we got. This basically has the same speed as
Guyak Pudding (12710)
Call Homunculus: Calls out your Homunculus. It can take aggro from mobs whenever you TP for efficient farming. This consumes
Seed of Life (7140) and only last for 30 minutes unless it dies which in that case you can use
Resurrect Homunculus to call it for free.
Situational Skills
Full Shadow Protection: Protects shadow equipment of the target from being stripped or destroyed. Useful for certain instances
The Whole Protection: Protects weapons and equipment of the caster and nearby party members from being stripped or destroyed. Only useful for party plays.
Full Chemical Protection: Protects your gears or party member's gears from being destroyed.
Acidified Zone Fire or any Acidified Skills: For monsters that requires multi-hitting damage. Can also be used to regain fast AP.
Crazy Weed: Can remove Spider Webs in Depth 2 and reveal hidden enemies.
Explaining
Mayhemic Thorns
First we must learn about Mayhemic Thorns. It has a 0.7s Cooldown with 0.5s Fixed Cast time so it can be slow but with the help of gears and stats you can lower those numbers down. Just using
Grace Attack Boots [1] (470020) reduces your FCT by 0.5s. Utilize the free buffs that you can get in Eden Group such as
Almighty (12883) for faster casting.
Research Report buffs your Mayhemic Thorns significantly. Mayhemic damage drops a lot without it, so try to keep this active at all times. (It also increases our AoE!) If you die, spam Mayhemic Thorns to reactivate it. Prioritize getting this up first before Hell Tree if you happen to die.
Next is Hell Tree, which summons a tree that provides a buff increasing Mayhemic Thorns' damage. However, it consumes 3x
Greater Plant Bottle (1000281) , which can be expensive for beginners. I usually save this for harder content, like MVPs in instances.
Next is Critical (Cri), which determines your chance to deal critical damage. Having 100 Cri means you have a 100% chance to land critical hits. Critical is very important because Mayhemic Thorns can crit!
Early on, you can stay at 100 Cri, but later, mobs gain Critical Shield, which reduces your chance to land critical hits by the amount of their Critical Shield. (Use @mobinfo or @mi to check a mob’s Critical Shield.)
The formula is: Cri - Critical Shield = True Cri.
For example, if you have 100 Cri and you're fighting a Grote (Nif2) with 32 Critical Shield, your true critical chance is 100 - 32 = 68. This means you need 132 Cri to maintain a 100% crit chance against that mob. You can use Abrasive (12458) if you wish to temporarily increase your cri.
Stats and Traits
Stats
- STR: This is multiplied with your Weapon ATK increasing your damage.
- AGI: Increases your attack speed but we don't really need that much attack speed unless you're in a high density map.
- VIT: Gives us defensives stats and having it at 92(?) would give us stun immunity
- INT: Provides the second-highest reduction in Variable casting time. Useful for faster cast times.
- DEX: Primary stats for range damages. Increases our hit chance and the highest reduction in Variable Casting Time.
- LUK: This scales with C.rate and gives us CRIT for a higher chance to do critical damage. Increase this if you need more Crit so you can try and hit 100.
Traits
- POW: Has the biggest boost towards our damage. Have this high.
- STA: Provides Res.
- WIS: Provides MRes.
- CON: Provides P.Atk but the damage is underwhelming and you can get it from your gears (also provides flee).
- CRT: Our main way of getting C.rate. I usually have this maxed.
Stats | Allocation | Traits | Allocation |
---|---|---|---|
STR | 110 | POW | 110 |
AGI | 3 | STA | 0 |
VIT | 90 | WIS | 32 |
INT | 100 | CON | 40 |
DEX | 130 | CRT | 110 |
LUK | 106 |
(Note that you can go 0 on STA and WIS and put all in CON)
Gear Progression
This is the beginning of your journey. Take it slow or fast. Just have fun and enjoy the journey! Also, you shouldn't rush to the late game, as your farming efficiency improves with the new gear you acquire, making it much easier to earn Zeny. For Leveling guide please see Spike's Leveling & Cart Cannon Guide to level up to 200. After getting to level 200, prioritize getting gears that you can get while also leveling your character to 250 to let you use any gears on this list.
Before we start, I highly recommend reading Madame Celery's Guide or Lily's Biolo Research Report to learn more about the gear progression as I would only be prioritizing gears that I believe would be good for Biolos with the current update. If you an alternative gears then I highly recommend checking Lily's guide.
Beginner
Gears
Not much to say here other than to use equipment from either Eden Group or Episode 17.1. You do not need to worry about getting cards here. Try to use this until you can get the gears in the next section.

Where to farm Zeny
These are some good farming spots that I know and have proven to be effective. A quick tip: use @storeall and @getall for storage, and always use a [Bound] Bubble Gum (12264) . Bring
[Bound] Kafra Card (23177) ,
Almighty (12883) , and
Small Mana Potion (23203) , which you can buy from the Eden vending machine for quality-of-life improvements.
Location | Note |
---|---|
Gefenia | A really good way for beginners to farm raw Zeny. Just make sure to bring ![]() |
Istana | You farm ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Early Game
Now that you have gained some zeny, you can now move to the early game gears. These gears are pretty good and would increase your damage.
Some of the Eden and Grace gears are still good such as the Grace Attack Boots [1] (470020) as it gives 0.5 Fixed Cast Time that
Mayhemic Thorns needs. Replacing
Grace Attack Boots [1] (470020) with
Illusion Sprint Shoes [1] (470066) requires you to either get +11 for both
Illusion Sprint Shoes [1] (470066) and
Illusion Sprint Mail [1] (450182) to get the FCT or use
Genetic Stone (Low) (1000671) with
Sword Training at level 5. For Shadow gears, just use the Advanced Paradise Shadow Gears that you get from Eden.

Good Farming Places
Dungeons that you should be able to gain zeny from with the current early game gears including the ones from beginner section. Always keep Shadowdecon Ore (25728) ,
Shadowdecon (25729) ,
Zelunium Ore (25730) ,
Zelunium (25731) , and
Etel Dust (1000322) when farming as they can be sold or used for crafting.
Also see Increase item drop gears guide to increase your zeny farming rate. Poring Family Balloons, Poring Sunglasses (19117) , and
Angel Poring Boots [1] (22101) is a good start.
Rudus 4 and Niflheim 1 now drops Equipments boxes. They can be opened, but I suggest opening some to vend and selling the rest.
Location | Note |
---|---|
Rudus 4 | Good raw zeny from ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Thanatos F9 - F12 | Auto-loot all and bring at F12 unless you can manage the slow de-buff from mobs (You can remove the slow de-buff with cart boost but you have to reapply the cart boost again which can be annoying). Keep ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Niflheim 1 | Raw zeny from ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Oz Dungeon 2 | Drops ![]() |
Old Glast Heim Normal/Hard | Can auto-loot all or just auto-loot ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Gefenia Doping | Best way to earn money if you can do it with the buffs that is listed by LuckNut's guide. Does not really need to change your gears but if you can't do it with buffs then try swapping some gears. You can also do this at Thanatos F8. |
Thanatos F7 Doping | Same zeny rate as Gefenia doping but you have to go back to town every time you clear the entire floor. You have to be solo in this floor or else the zeny rate would be worse than normal farming in gefenia. |
Mid Game
This section will talk about gears that you can temporary use and also gears that you would use for end game. These can be expensive to buy or craft so buckle up! Some early game gears are still used but enchanted.
NOTE: I highly recommend checking the End game gears first before getting any of these stuff as you may be able to skip some of them.

Shadow Gears
Shadow Gear | Note |

Use this if you're using ![]() |
+9 ![]() ![]() |
Cheap shadow gears but good. |
+10 ![]() ![]() |
This gives +20 stats which is pretty nice. I prefer getting this to reach instant cast and for extra Cri. It deals less damage than Max Mammoth. |

Mid Game Farming
As always keep Shadowdecon Ore (25728) ,
Shadowdecon (25729) ,
Zelunium Ore (25730) ,
Zelunium (25731) , and
Etel Dust (1000322) for vending or your own use. Having +12A
Dimensions Biological Sword [2] (500093) and a Full set of +9
Full Penetration Shadow Armor (24663) shadow gear is enough to farm here. Everything will overweight you here so bring a
Kafra Card (12211) or
Kafra Storage Bell (23648) (Cash Shop).
Just like in early-game farming, Nilfheim and Amicitia now drop equipment boxes. Open them to vend some of the items and sell the rest.
Location | Note |
---|---|
Amicitia 2 | Auto-loot all then sell ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Niflheim 2 | Auto-loot all then sell ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Clock Tower Unknown Basement | Auto-loot all for raw zeny. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Mjolnir Underground Cave | Auto-loot all. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
End Game
Now, onto the late game. This gear is the most expensive you'll ever need, but it essentially completes your Biolo. If you made a Biolo just for farming, you don’t need to create the gear listed. However, if you want to farm in areas like Biosphere 2 (Temple) or Forgotten Zone, you’ll need this gear to farm efficiently. Take it slow when progressing to the endgame.
NOTE: If you do not want to create Hall of Life gears with nebula armors then please check Lily's Biolo Research Report for the Biosphere gears as you can use them for end game dungeons.

Reaching Insta-Cast (WIP)
Our only way of reaching insta-cast is by stats alone so I'll be showing ways to reach that 530 stats thresh-hold. First of all Variable Casting Time reduction can be calculated with ((int+(dex*2))/530)*100. An example is having 90 int with 130 dex, 90+(130*2)= 350 then divide it by 530 giving us 0.66 multiplied by 100 is equals to 66%. This means with just those stats alone we can reduce our Variable Casting time by 66% and we want to reach 100% for insta-cast! Please visit Choi's Guide To Magic to learn more about Variable casting, Fixed cast time and attack speed!

This is the cheapest way of reaching insta-cast but with these gears, you could farm Mid-game farming spots albeit you have Full Penetration shadow gear and +12A Weapon. Note that we will be using consumables for this but it will be very cheap.

Tips and Tricks
Some stuff that I've learned while playing Biolo (If you got more then don't hesitate to ask me)
- You can use Illusion Doping for ET and OGH Normal mode for fast instances.
- Higher MDef would prevent Decrease Agi debuff in Buwaya cave if you're doing that instance so use
Brilliant Protection Scroll (23204)
- You can use Alt+Right click to make your homunculus walk in that cell. Great in Lake of Fire luring.
- Gym pass can stack with
Enlarge Weight Limit so get those weights baby!
- Use
Harvester Hat [1] (5902) while farming for easy
Blood Sucker Plant Seed (6211) ,
Thorn Plant Seed (6210) , and
Bomb Mushroom Spore (6212) . (Equipment Crafting)
Questions
If you have any question or thinks that something is not suppose to be there then please DM me on discord (@meep0_o).
- Do you recommend Biolo?
As a field farmer for beginners, yes—but mages just dominate endgame farming man.
- Why does it look similar to Lily's guide?
I started my Biolo journey with her guide, so huge shoutout to her! However, it has been a while since it was last updated. I used most of the gear she recommended from early to mid-game, including the Dim Glacier Mace, Gray Wolf gear, Snow Flower gear, and Critical costume stones. They are good, but honestly, not necessary for progression.
- Why make the guide?
So people would not do the same mistake that I did and maybe help those Biolos on discord hehe (i also want the cute costume and got inspired by choi). Big sorry if I made any mistake :> This is my first time making guides in any games I've played
- Why not go dim glacier?
Sadly it has been power-crept by Dimensional weapons. I've tested it and +12A Dim glacier fully enchanted does do more damage against +12A Dimensional but the difference is barely noticeable and getting your Grade A tdrc makes dim glacier less powerful.
Future Plans
- How to reach insta-cast
- Make the tables look better fr
