The Road to a Billion Zeny - Newbie Leveling/Farming Guide
Introduction
This is a general guide on leveling and farming, aimed at new players making their first character on this server.
For class-specific guides, check out the User Guides
ATTENTION: This guide is a work in progress. You might come across sections that seem unfinished or even outright empty. Be assured that I am actively working on this guide and making regular edits and additions.
You can see what I'm working on right now at the bottom of the page.
Last update: July 07, 2025.
Preparation
Merchant Accounts
Have at least 5 to 12+ alt merchant accounts ready to go before you start. You don't need to populate them for now, you will create and level up Merchant characters as you go, according to your needs.
Having many merchant accounts is not overkill, because you will cap your cart's weight limit very fast with all the
Oridecon (984) and
Elunium (985) you'll be farming in the early game.
Useful Links
Keep these open in your browser for quick reference:
Turbo
In the left-hand pane of the launcher, you can click "Turbo Setup" to open the turbo config file. In that file, you can choose which keys act as turbo keys. It's F1/F2/F3 by default, but you can change those and/or add more if you wish. Do your wrists a favor and use make use of Turbo mode. It's absolutely essential for long farming sessions.
For more information on Turbo Mode: Patcher#Turbo Setup
Gray Map
This is another setting that can be enabled in the launcher, by clicking the "Gray Map On" checkbox right under the Turbo Setup. This replaces your environment models and textures with gray tiles, resulting in 2 advantages: faster loading (important for fast TPing around the map) and visual clarity, making it easier to see which tiles you can and can't cross.
Custom Shortcuts
In game, press Alt+M to open the custom shortcut menu. Feel free to populate it with your favorite @ commands. Here are a few suggestions:
| Command | Info |
|---|---|
| @go main | Warps to main office for job changing and stat/skill resetting. |
| @go eden | Warps to Eden Group for quests, gear, and consumables. |
| @al 100 | Sets autoloot to 100% (loot everything). Billionaires don't leave loot on the floor. |
| @lastwarp | Warps back to the last place you warped to from the NPC (does not include @go commands). Return faster to your farming spot! |
| @storeall | Dumps your entire inventory (except for the favorites tab) into your storage. |
| @getall | Dumps your entire storage into your inventory (as much as your weight limit allows). |
| @go 50 | Warps to the refinement/grading/enchantment hub. |
| @go paramk | Warps to the paramarket, where you can find vendors for all sorts of useful things. |
| @channel leave #global | Turns off global chat so you can focus on farming. |
| @channel join #global | Take a break from farming to meme around. |
| @nodrop | Hides items on the ground, preventing you from accidentally clicking on them and wasting valuable time. |
| @noattack | Stops you from auto-attacking monsters by clicking on them. |
| @lpg | Activates LGP. See here for details: Player Commands#Client featuring commands |
The Most Important Rule
If you want to make good use of your time, remember this rule and obey it always:
- Whenever you are leveling, you are using
[Bound] Battle Manual (12263) - Whenever you are farming, you are using
[Bound] Bubble Gum (12264) - Whenever you are low on these items, you stop and go farm
Eden Coin (25223) to buy more
Leveling
1 to 100
- Do not skip the first part of the intro/tutorial quest. It's a quick completion and rewards a
Novice Battle Manual (7803) - Hit eggs in ant hell to level 40, then bonk Orcs in Orc dungeon to level 70, then take the Glast Heim -> 15x Wraith & 15x Evil Druid quest from the level 70 Eden board, and repeat it to 99
- Do the same thing again for your rebirth, except this time you also take the Einbroch -> 20x Pitman quest and farm up 15x
Old Pick (7318) - As you near level 99 Rebirth, go to (ra_fild06 , ) to kill some Kobolds and gather 3x
Blue Hair (1034) , then go to (um_fild03 , ) to loot 15x
Elastic Band (7200) from Wootan Shooters - At level 100, go trade your
Old Pick (7318) ,
Blue Hair (1034) , and
Elastic Band (7200) for an advanced weapon and armor set (in the same room where you got the original Eden equipment)
100 to 200
- Do the Illusion Dungeon quest for Illusion of Moonlight, then Illusion of Vampire.
- Talk to the 130-190 Eden board and take both quests for Lasagna Dungeon (Above lv 130 -> 60x monsters in lasa_dun02 and Above lv 140 -> 120x monsters in lasa_dun03). USE YOUR
[Bound] Bubble Gum (12264) ! Farm these until you have a comfortable amount of
Eden Coin (25223) , and you should also have a bunch of
Yggdrasil Berry (607) ,
Elunium (985) and
Oridecon (984) to transfer to your merchant for vending. - Use your
Eden Coin (25223) to buy some
Brilliant Protection Scroll (23204) and
Almighty (12883) , and farm Illusion of Vampire and/or Illusion of Teddy Bear until you hit 200. - Keep your
[Bound] Battle Manual (12263) active at all times, and if you farm in Vampire or Teddy Bear, also keep
[Bound] Bubble Gum (12264) active. When you get low on
Eden Coin (25223) , return to Lasagna.
200+
- Level up just a little bit more (target: 210) in the highest Illusion Dungeon you can manage with
Brilliant Protection Scroll (23204) and
Almighty (12883) , then use some of your hard-earned zeny to transition out of your Eden gear into the start of your mid-game gear. Which specific pieces of gear depend on your class, but pretty much everyone starts with a Glacier Weapon (Issgard_Equipment#Glacier_Weapons_(Melee_and_Bows)). Refer to the guides here for class-specific gearing advice (or you can always ask in the class channels on the Discord). - (Optional) Complete Episode 17.1 (17.1 Illusion) (or buy the skip ticket) and purchase a Grace set.
- (Optional) Farm in Illusion of Twins. Many classes can use the gear from there as solid transitional options into the mid-game. Use the refine boxes until you get a +10, then you can either keep the gear (make it +11 with
HD Carnium (6225) for enchanting) or exchange them for
Safe to +9 Armor Certificate (6232) , which you can combine into
Safe to +10 Armor Certificate (6994) (Armor_Weapon_Tickets#How_to_Get_Refine_Tickets). These are good sellers, or you can use them yourself on your future Gray Wolf equipment (18 Direction of Prayer#Gray Wolf Armor), if you decide to go that route. - note: currently, it's also viable to create Weapon Certificates instead of Armor ones, as people making their Time Gap weapons will need them. (valid as of May 10, 2025. revise later if needed)
- Once you've got your early game gear sorted, finish leveling to 250 in Abyss 4 (don't forget the Eden/Daily quests as well).
- At 250, you want to switch your focus to farming. Levels will come as you farm, but there is currently no piece of equipment with a level requirement higher than 250, so you're good to go.
Farming Billions of Zeny
Introduction
Eden Coins
The first step to becoming a billionaire is a solid stock of
Eden Coin (25223) with which to buy consumables, namely
[Bound] Bubble Gum (12264) .
- Prior to level 100, there aren't any really good dedicated farming spots for Eden Coins, and you should be focusing on leveling anyways! The Glast Heim Monastery quest (15x Wraiths & 15x Evil Druids) is decent XP and gives some coins. You can also do Clock Tower 15x Clock and 15x Alarm
- Starting from 140, the go-to farming spot for Coins is Lasagna Dungeon. You can take both quests from the 130-190 board (Above 130 for floor 2 and Above 140 for floor 3)
- Once you can one-hit-kill the mobs in Second Power Plant (they have 3m HP), that's your late-game Coin farming spot
- The end game of Coin farming is multi-clienting (WIP)
Using the Tables
The data for these tables was collected by farming for 30 minutes with an active
[Bound] Bubble Gum (12264) on an Arch Mage character. Other classes may have higher or lower income.
The "Total Zeny" values reflect market prices at the time this guide was written and should only serve as a comparison basis, not as an indication of actual income.
The "Monster HP" values track the Effective HP of the tankiest monster on the map. That's why the values shoot into the billions later on, once mobs have 90% damage reduction.
Optimization
While none of this is as important as Bubble Gum (you do not farm without Bubble Gum), here is a handy list of optional supplies you can take with you to optimize your farming experience:
Guyak Pudding (12710) : Always move at max speed, and become immune to slows. Warning: this is a highly addictive substance. Has the same duration as Bubble Gum, which is pretty handy.
Infinite Fly Wing (12887) : Big QoL item to TP around the map without worrying about stack size or weight. You can also use a
Creamy Card (4040) accessory.
Kafra Storage Bell (23648) /
[Bound] Kafra Card (23177) : Open your storage anywhere. Combined with @storeall on shortcut, this is essential to maximizing your zeny/hour.
[Bound] Gym Pass (6846) : Can be used up to 20 times to increase your weight limit by up to 4,000. More weight limit: less downtime interacting with storage. Even magic classes can also add some STR stats to push that number even higher.
Haggler Pass (50042) : Can be used up to 10 times by non-Merchant classes only. This allows you to have the Overcharge skill on any character, eliminating the need for storage transfers and Merchant alts to sell trash loot.
All these items are available from the in-game cash shop. Monitor the #trade channel and look for players selling
Muh Voucher (50003) (at the time of writing, 7m-7.5m is a good price range for buying these). You can also trade some
Muh Coin (50000) in a pinch. Don't be afraid of the "cash" shop, you don't need to spend actual cash to use it.
Lootlists: I don't use them because you don't get rich by leaving stuff on the ground! However, some people prefer to use them and that's fine. If you have good lootlists to share, DM me on Discord and I'll include them here (with a credit, of course).
Meanwhile, this guide: Farming Items has lootlists for most of the maps in the tables below.
Drop rate gear
The data for this guide was gathered without the use of drop rate gear, as those gears aren't easily accessible to new players. For more information on drop rate gear, see here: Increase item drop gears
A note on the data
To make this guide, I farmed between 5 and 20 half-hour sessions on each map, and collected the data in a spreadsheet. The numbers in these tables represent the lowest recorded amounts across these runs. They should serve as a solid baseline, not as a top end to aim for.
What is valuable?
This is a question that comes up often. I'm not going to get into loot lists, because my philosophy is to simply loot everything, use
Kafra Storage Bell (23648) when I'm overweight, and sort/sell everything later. That being said, it's good to know which items can be safely sold to NPCs and which you need to keep or vend.
| Consumables | |
| A great healing/SP recovery item in the early/mid game. Keep and use, or vend to other players | |
| Half as good as | |
| Sell these to NPC or use them for fun gambling times to remind yourself of the good old days | |
| Again, you could gamble for something good but the real profit is in vending these to gamblers instead | |
| Use these for the nostalgia factor, or just sell them to NPC | |
| Spawns a random MVP when used. Extremely valuable. Vend these to players - gambling with these is a very very late game activity | |
| Open these: they contain a random MVP drop, which might save you 150k zeny on your shadow gear, and sometimes other goodies like | |
| Open these and either sell the contents to NPC or use with | |
| Use them until you get a +10, then make Refine Tickets. You can also vend these to other players. I'm showing only the Moonlight box here, but it's the same for all Illusion boxes. | |
| Either vend directly to players or open and melt the weapons in Ice Castle for a chance at | |
| Refinement | |
| Trade 5 of these for their final versions at Vurewell (@go 50) | |
| Used to refine level 3/4 weapons and to convert to | |
| Used to refine level 1 armors and to convert to | |
| The only practical use for this is to convert to | |
| The only practical use for this is to convert to | |
| Used to safely refine Level 5 weapons and Level 2 armors beyond +10, either at the refiner NPC or via the use of refinement hammers. They are extremely valuable. Hold on to these, or vend them to other players | |
| Trade 20 of these for their final versions at Vurewell (@go 50) | |

| These can be used to craft or reform high-end items, and you can trade 100 of them for 1 | |
| Used to make all sorts of high-end refinement and grading items. Keep them. You can vend your surplus, but these are so abundant that the price is very low | |
| Not technically a refinement item in itself, these are required to trade for | |

| Lasagna Dungeon 3 | (lasa_dun03 , ) | 9.6m | 323 | 216 | 224 | 48 | 36 | 48.8m | 220k |
Note:
Yggdrasil Berry (607) is a valuable item, but it sells more slowly than
Elunium (985) . Don't stock up thousands of them if you want fast money.
Conclusion: Farm Istana early on (lv 100+) for some easy zeny via vending
Elunium (985) on your merchant alts. Farm Lasagna 2-3 for
Eden Coin (25223) and to stock up on
Yggdrasil Berry (607) for later.

Multi-client farming is solid in these dungeons (except Labyrinth): easy objectives, good return of
Forgotten Heirloom (50001) .
Conclusion: Farm Illusions of Vampire & Teddy Bear for mid-game resources while still gaining respectable XP (levels 150-190). Farm Twins later for useful Illusion gear and/or to make Refine Tickets.
Note: In Illusion of Teddy Bear, target the Red Teddy Bears for
Oridecon (984) , and the Yellows for
Elunium (985) .
Secret Tech: Farm Illusion of Underwater F2 for a chance at
[MVP] Abysmal Witch Card (300145) , one of the rarest MVP cards on the server.

| Odin's Past | (odin_past , ) | 21.6m | 184 | 19 | 7 | 20 | 12 | 23.8m | 7.5m |
Einbech 3 is a great place to farm
Dynite (25814) for Flush Weapons. Make sure to turn in the dailies as soon as completed, and trade the ores at (einbech 151, 251).
Abyss 4 and Power Plant 2 are great for multi-client farming, you can get around 1,000
Eden Coin (25223) in a half-hour run with just 4 clients. Normal drops won't be multiplied, just the Coin/Heirloom rewards.
Due to the low mob density, Odin's Past is a poor farming spot unless you're specifically hunting
Valkyrie Ingrid's Armor Fragment (25768) /
Valkyrie Reginleif's Armor Fragment (25769) for costume crafting purposes.
Conclusion: Farm Oz Dungeon 2 for mid-game resources, especially
Amethyst Fragment (1000405) , which are used in the buying and enchanting of powerful mid-game armors (18 Direction of Prayer#Gray Wolf Armor).
Farm Abyss 4 for Eden Coins and good XP (until level 240-ish).

| Thanatos Tower F12 |
Conclusion: Thanatos Tower requires
Guyak Pudding (12710) to farm properly, and your income depends heavily on the price and demand of fragments. But when the price is right, it's an excellent early game farm spot.

These are the first maps where you can start getting
Shadowdecon (25729) ,
Zelunium (25731) , and
Etel Dust (1000322) , the cornerstones of your grading journey.
Conclusion: Just farm Rudus 4 when Nif1 is too crowded.
Episodes 19 & 20
The values [in brackets] reflect the zeny you would save by farming
Dim Glacier Weapon Box (41246) instead of buying them. The left-side value is what you earn by selling the boxes to NPC.

Conclusion: Buckle up and lock in, Niffleheim 2 is going to be your best farming spot for a long time. Mix it up with Mjolnir if you can snipe easily, and CTB to farm materials such as
Ectoplasmic Stone (1001073) for
MVP Equip Refine Hammer (50052) .

Conclusions: Biosphere A is not worth farming unless you need to make something like a
Glade Rune Boots [1] (470174) or
Death Rune Manteau [1] (480233) and are on a self-farm challenge, or if for some reason the price of elemental runes and essences shoots up into the stratosphere.
(If Death numbers seem higher it's only because my Arch Mage is more suited to dealing with the mobs in Death, the biospheres A should all be closely similar to one another in terms of income, only the elemental type of the runes will differ.)

Biosphere B is the best source of
Zelunium (25731) (and therefore
Blacksmith's Blessing (6635) ) if you want to self-farm. Now, as for which biosphere B map is the best for you to farm, that depends on your character. If you've already invested in
Biosphere Gem (Vibra-rupt) (311934) , Temple is the obvious choice. SVS Arch Mages may favor Soul, while Neutral-element damage dealers might find Venom more to their liking. In any case, the income to damage requirement ratio makes these maps mostly unprofitable for everyone not equipped with end-game gears.
Unless they are severely overcrowded, it is likely preferable to farm the maps in Early Late Game with Increased Drop Rate Gear.

All the monsters there are also Formless race, so don't forget to enchant your Dimension weapon with
Biosphere Gem (Vibra-rupt) (311934) .
Varmundt Depths
Note that, unlike every other zone, this data was gathered in party play with shared drops.

I've regrouped all the Depth Samples under 1 cell since they all sell for the same amount.
The value in Depths 1 comes mostly from the Samples and

Instance Farming
Farming instances is a good break from the monotony of field farming and many of these instances also have much lower gear requirements than the best fields. They're also less profitable overall, as you'd expect. Still, incorporating instances into your farming routine will help give it some variety.
Old Glast Heim & Challenge
Old Glast Heim Normal and Hard drop
Contaminated Magic (6755) and
Coagulated Spell (6608) , which are both used as intermediary crafting materials for enchanting the Circulation of Life cloaks. This is a very easy and straightforward instance—although the first run can be slow, annoying and frustrating. But worry not, once you get the hang of it (and unlock fast mode), it's a relatively quick run and also rewards 6 (N)/7 (H)
Instance Coin (50009) . In terms of zeny/hour, it's about on par with the likes of Rudus4/Niflheim 1.

Old Glast Heim Challenge Mode is a different beast. Read the details here before you start: Old Glast Heim Challenge Mode
Leveling up your Challenge level is tedious , but the rewards might be worth it. At max level, OGH Challenge rewards
Temporal Gemstone (25865) and
Temporal Spell (25866) , which are similarly used as intermediary crafting materials for enchanting the Circulation of Life cloaks.
Temporal Gemstone (25865) especially is very expensive to buy and stocks are limited, so farming them yourself is far from a bad idea.
Instance Coins
Instance Coin (50009) are rewarded from Instance Daily Quests and can be traded for various items, most notably
Coagulated Spell (6608) ,
Contaminated Magic (6755) , and
Temporal Spell (25866) .
Here is a list of instances that are quick to finish and reward coins. Most of these also have a (very low) chance of dropping an MVP card that can be traded for a
Sealed Card Album (22829) .
- Buwaya Cave (4 coins)
- Hey! Sweety! (4 coins)
- Poring Village (5 coins)
- Werner's Laboratory - Cutie (5 coins)
- Werner's Laboratory - YSF (5 coins)
- Bioresearch Laboratory (6 coins)—This instance also drops a nice amount of
Yggdrasil Seed (608) and
Yggdrasil Berry (607) - Last Room (7 coins)
- Airship Destruction (8 coins)—Requires completion of Episode 19
- Simulation Battle (8 coins)—Requires completion of Episode 19
MVP Cards
Every MVP card can be turned into a
Sealed Card Album (22829) for selling or gambling, but the following instances drop MVP cards that are valuable in themselves, either for your personal use or to sell for—literally—billions of zeny.
- Central Laboratory—Quick instance where you will fight 3 random MVPs. Some have valuable cards, some don't.
- Endless Tower—Chance of
[MVP] Golden Thief Bug Card (4128) on Floor 5. After that, continue only if you want
Sealed Card Album (22829) fodder.
- The Immortal—Requires completion of Episode 20. Chance to drop
[MVP] Demigod Lasgand Card (300472) , the most essential MVP card for magic users.
- Mysterious Ghost Ship—Requires completion of Episode 21. Drops
[MVP] Ghost Ship Captain Card (300532) , which looks like it could be pretty good for physical damage dealers.
- Final Battle—Requires completion of Episode 21. Drops
[MVP] Encroached Tan Card (300533) , which is essentially Lasgand for physical damage dealers.
- Villa of Deception—Requires a friend or dual-clienting to enter (after that, you can play the instance with just your main character). Drops the 2 best cards for the Rune Tablet System:
[MVP] Twisted God Card (300228) and
[MVP] Schulang Card (300227) .
- Sarah and Fenrir—A very annoying instance. Its only purpose is to drop the mythical
[MVP] Sarah Card (4610) . I don't really recommend farming this unless you really really want that card.
- Geffen Magic Tournament/Night Arena—Very long the first time, but subsequent runs can be done in "fast" mode. Drops
[MVP] Fenrir Card (4556) , another expensive specialty card.
- Endless Cellar—Like the Tower, mostly
Sealed Card Album (22829) fodder unless you want to dive deep. You can find
[MVP] Tao Gunka Card (4302) on Floor 12,
[MVP] Kiel Card (4403) on Floor 48 and
[MVP] Thanatos Card (4399) on Floor 60.

Old Glast Heim Challenge Level
First, read up on OGH Challenge levels here: Old Glast Heim Challenge Mode#Old Glast Heim Difficulty Level
Raising the level on multiple alts from level 1 would be an extremely time-consuming endeavor, so what we do is this: make a party of multi-cliented alts, consisting of all the characters you want to farm the instance with (up to 11), have a friend open a level 10 instance for you, clear it, and repeat until you can open that level 10 yourself. And don't forget to buy your friend a drink.
Alternate Enrichment Methods
Events
Seasonal Events
Read about Seasonal Events here: Seasonal Events
The exclusive costumes available from these events can potentially sell for a lot of zeny, and usually these events can be "farmed" even by low level characters. In any case, events are great to meet other players and make friends, as well as break up the monotony of farming. Take the time to touch some (virtual) grass once in a while!
GM Events
Read about Events here: Automated Events
These events may reward
Muh Coin (50000) , which can be sold to other players or used as currency to buy
HE Bubble Gum (12412) . While the events are unlikely to reward more value per time invested than simply farming high level maps, they are a good change of pace and offer an opportunity to hang out with other players.
A Note on Happy Hour
Read about Happy Hour here: Happy Hour
In my experience, Happy Hour is not worth chasing. If it falls on a map already worth farming, you can go for it—but be aware that other players might have the same idea. On the most popular maps, the increased drop rates might—or might not—make up for the increased competition.
On low income maps, the (very low) chance of getting cash shop items is simply not worth it.
Voting
Simple enough: Vote on this page to get Vote Points, then when you have enough (~7 voting cycles) go to the MuhRO Manager in Main Office (@go main) to trade them for Donation Points to use in the Cash Shop. It's not much, but it's free cash shop points.
Playing the Market
I'm only mentioning this because it's a popular money-making strategy in MMORPGs in general, but on MuhRO it's incredibly easy to just generate zeny, and the prices of highly sought-after items like
Elunium (985) ,
Zelunium (25731) and
Blacksmith's Blessing (6635) are capped by the paramarket, which makes it very hard to make money by simply playing Capitalism Simulator. If you thought, for instance, that it would be a good idea to buy up the entire stock of
Muh Coin (50000) to take advantage of the high demand from MVP card hunters and try to resell it at a 1,000% markup, well... I have some bad news (
Muh Coin (50000) are also very easy to generate).
