Introduction
Hello everybody! I'm Lxna, I have played ragnarok for many years but this year I started pushing myself into getting better at the game, understanding mechanics, and helping others so we always have a community to grow together. I started MuhRo around August 24, and since then i've been growing stronger, farming and making some friends on my journey. I have started as an Imperial Guard but I had to make a new character because I was having trouble farming late end game maps, because there's lots of holy immune mobs.
After looking at my options, I chose EM because it is very versatile because of the easy choice of element you want use mid fight, very fun and you get awesome pokemons puppets to aid you!
Important to say that I just started playing with this class recently so there's lots of things I don't know and will update conform I find it necessary!
Notes
Elemental Master is currently one of the most strong if not the strongest Magic class build in the current patch.
This is because:
- We benefit from the time dimensions combo (Depth Crown + Weapon);
- Not only benefit, but the combination of both makes us auto cast our burst skill entirely free and spammable. As a comparison, Imperial Guard dimension's combo only reduce mains skill CD in almost half, but don't auto cast anything;
- And all of that with the case that we can choose the element of our burst skill at any type, almost free;
Some pros and cons for the magic build in my opinion:
Pros:
- You have a lot of element coverage which will make it easier to farm specific maps ;
- AOE skill - you use the skill, things die inside the range, you teleport out of it, repeat! No need to click on the specific mob!
- Cute
pokemonspuppetselemental summons that will help you and change your offence and defence to the desired element (all of them are cute, except you Serpens, you were much better before :( ); - Turned off brain for farming! Use skill, teleport, use skill, teleport and repeat until rich!
Cons:
- This is not a one button to win build. You will need to alternate between at least 3 skills during farming sessions;
- As a mage class, at the start you will be very squishy! Go after some resistances/ mresistances asap;
- You will need to do a lot of micro managing during game play. You need to keep track of how many elemental stones do you still have, how many gems are left, etc;
- Your skill bar will be full of skills that you need to use. Few more than others, but it's good to remember each shortcut because speed matters;

Our main utility skill, keep it up all time. Free +20 S.MATK is HUGE! |

The reason why every party need an EM to do party content. You nullify any aoe skill inside the land protected, so we don't wipe for meteors from OGHC, Lasgand's storm gust and earth strain, etc. |

Situational skill that can save you in some specific cases, like Jabberwocky dragon's breath. |
![]() |
This skill push mobs to it, so you can use in events like the fall's sentinel tree or to run from some mobs, like Alice's insects which are magic immune. |
![]() |
HUGE dps increase for physical users. Use every time you see a inquisitor in your party lol |

For 3rd class summons and what each individually do please check Elemental Master. Special mention to Summon Ventus lv 1 as it's free guyak!
What to use and when
We can have some types of gameplay, which makes our class very versatile and fun to play but hard to master:
- Use AOE skill > teleport > use AOE skill. This is our mindless farm, farming easy maps like Biosphere A and below;
- Use AOE skill and get closer to use diamond storm + elemental buster combo. This is where our class shines on high dps. You'll need to play like this in Biosphere B and higher maps.
- Party support. If you don't have high enough dps, you'll be as useful providing lan protector and awesome buffs like strinking and spekll enchant. Our class can also give AP to others using xxx, which is very useful when the party wipes mid instance;
- Betel/Jabberwocky mega tank. You can build your character to be dragon immune using some specific gear + 284. More on that later.
With that classification, the table below will list what gameplay type ( 1 thru 4), which skill to use, which pokemon to summon and the common strategy for each map:
Map | Gameplay Type | Summon Elemental | Main skill | Secondary Skill | Strategy |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Any Illusion | 1 - Aoe+TP | Any | confla | Venom swamp | You probably one shot eveything here. Just use any skill that isnt on cd and teleport and repeat. |
Stats and Traits
Stats
Generally, stats should be based on what best suits you. As such, I won't provide my exact Stat distribution, as you should update yours accordingly.
Int: Provides the highest bonus in StatusMATK. It also provides the second-highest reduction in Variable Cast Time.
Dex: Provides the third-highest bonus in StatusMATK. It also provides the highest reduction in Variable Cast Time from stats. Early on, you will want a lot of Dex, as your gear may not provide the VCT reduction you need. Later on, it will be a lower priority.
Luk: Provides the second-highest bonus in StatusMATK. Personal preference, but i usuaully go with more luk than dex, as it also increases our chance of magic dodge using prestige.
Vit: Provides a lot of tankiness through HP, SoftDEF, and SoftMDEF.
Agi: Provides some additional tankiness by providing FLEE, and the ATKSPD improves DPS by reducing Cast animation.
Str: Provides additional weight capacity which will help for farming.
Traits
Traits are additional stats that provide bonuses for fourth classes. Traits are bit more straightforward:
SPL (110): Provides the highest bonus in S.MATK and your abilities will additionally scale off SPL.
CON (110): Provides the second-highest bonus in S.MATK.
WIS (72): CON already provided us with flee rate and we have means to mitigate physical damage with cards and xxxxxx so it's better to put out points in WIS as it will increase our Magical Resistance
Gear and farming progression
I've used Choi's Guide To Magic almost entirely to progress through every phase with very few changes. In every phase i will list the equipments expected to have and the changes made from his guide!
One thing that I highly recommend is to progress your gear as your progress the character story! If it is your first time playing renewal or if you have never payed attention in ragnarok story, take a breath and enjoy the npcs and story! Is pretty rewarding to feel that you've farmed what you needed to start farming in some place stronger as you progress with your story together!
Phase Eden
At Level 100, you can talk with Labraham and Louis at @go Eden to get your Advanced Paradise Gear. These gears will require Old Pick (7318) ,
Blue Hair (1034) , and
Elastic Band (7200) .
Additionally, you can talk with Lucy in the same room to receive your Advanced Paradise Shadow Gear by renting it for 20 Eden Coins for 3 days or buying the set permanently for 230 in total.

Phase One
Moving forward, your main priority is to see where you can reduce your fixed cast time, and your second priority will be increasing your damage output (for now).
Cross Rain only has 1.5s Fixed Casting Time (FCT) and
Genesis Ray has 0.5 FCT and 6s Variable Casting Time (VCT), so at this point we should have at least 120 points in INT and DEX to help reduce
Genesis Ray VCT.
You should start progressing through the story to unlock all the maps and instances, and if this is your first character ever you will need to do it, so you can just buy the episode unlock with further characters!
With the phase eden equipment you can probably finish episode 16.1 Banquet for Heroes and start progressing through 17.1 Illusion. Episode 17 is the episode where you will start your farm adventure, probably hunting in Rudus 1, 2 and 3 looking for Unknown Parts (25669) and
Cor Core (25723) .
If you are only rushing levels to get as soon as possible to 4th class, focus on doing the eden hunting missions for the highest illusion dungeon you can comfortably and constantly kill!
The following table has the minimum level required to access the content related to farm. Focus here is minimum, as chances are that each new map that we unlock will be to hard for us to properly farm there without progressing our gear.
What and where to farm

Both drops from Rudus 4, which are for level 200+. It's ok if you can't get these now, but you can buy from other players if you want to |

Weapon | ![]() |
We will keep the weapon until we are level +200, so focus on other equipments first. |
Shield | +9~+11 ![]() |
You can farm it in Illusion of Frozen. This shield has plenty of defences so it will help you survive more. You will use this until late game, so maybe is worth an effort of farming here and getting to at least +11. Don't forget to enchant it with either ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Pro tip: Check Armor Weapon Tickets page to safely refine level 1 gear to +11.
Phase Two
At this point, we really need to get the 1.5s FCT so we can use Cross Rain to farm even faster. Focus on getting these first:
Grace Magic Boots [1] (470021) : 0.5s
Royal Guard Stone (Top) (1000616) : 0.5s
- Brilliant/ Sinful Sapphire Accessories: 0.2s / 0.3s
The final FCT required can be acquired these ways:
Minor Casting Stone (Garment) (25170)
Automatic Leg Type B [1] (470023) using
Automatic Modification Module (Fixed Casting) (1000134)
Gray Wolf Shoes [1] (470088) using
Wolf Orb (Fixed Casting) Lv.1 (310600)
Or you can wait until next phase where we will get our +9[C] Moan of Corruption [1] (470204) which will already give 1s FCT!
Once we get 1.5s FCT our focus should be getting our weapon ready! This will be the biggest damage jump for the lowest price.
What and where to farm
Level | Map/Story | Gear related | Related maps | Items to look for |
---|---|---|---|---|
170+ | Oz Labyrinth
2nd floor |
![]() |
Warper > Dungeons > Oz Dungeon > Walk to South Portal | Best place to farm ![]() |
180+ | Odin | Warper > Dungeons > Odin's Past
(Ps: You need to walk there by foot the first time to unlock the direct warp. (odin_tem03 279, 234) |
Great place to farm as soon as you get level 200 to grind for the first job levels and to farm some good zeny | |
200+ | Rudus 4 | ![]() ![]() |
Warper > Dungeons > Rudus F4
(Ps: You need to walk there by foot the first time to unlock the direct warp. (sp_rudus3 380, 42) |
Decent zeny and xp farming, specially if you are beginning in the +200 maps! |
210+ | Episode 19 maps | Issgard Equipment | Warper > Dungeons > Snake's nest | Start farming your ![]() |
Warper > Dungeons > Abandoned Pit | 2nd floor is the best place to farm ![]() |
Between the Gray Wolf Robe [1] (450178) and the
Snow Flower Robe [1] (450207) , both options are great.
Gray Wolf Robe [1] (450178) provides more damage and Snow Flower Robe [1] (450207) provides more tankiness. Personally I don't like to farm for amethyst fragments because it takes a lot of time to get all the ammount necessary and Oz Dungeon 2 does not drop anything useful other than the amethysts, but this is entirely personal preference.
Phase Two - Gear Progression Table
Position | Equipment | Note |
---|---|---|
Head - Top | +9 ![]() |
To craft Vesper Helmet
Vesper helmet is a great mid game helmet. Into the next step we will start grading it until grade C, but keep it ungraded for now. |

Use battle processor if you either got a Yggdrasil leaf or want to craft a ![]() Otherwise keep the Cor Core as it is. |
Head - Low | ![]() |
If you get the Yggdrasil leaf (any stats, only the enchant matters), try to hit these enchants:
|
Body | +11 ![]() +9~+11 |
For Gray Wolf: ![]() ![]() ![]() For Snow Flower: |
Weapon | +9 ![]() |
Number one priority after getting the required FCT! You can farm for the materials like I did, or you can just buy one as they are cheap.
Enchants: |
Shield | +9~+11 ![]() |
You can farm it in Illusion of Frozen. This shield has plenty of defences so it will help you survive more. You will use this until late game, so maybe is worth an effort of farming here and getting to at least +11. Don't forget to enchant it with either ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Phase Three
Now it's time to start part of our endgame equipment! Our biggest focus in this step will be shoes, garment and dim glacier weapon! You will also start doing and understading grading and refinement. These wiki pages are good reads so you can understand how to self craft the following gear:
Be prepared to farm a lot. Serious, you will need something near 3k dim glacier boxes so you can fully craft your weapon lol.
Now you will notice that you will need tons of Oridecon (984) ,
Elunium (985) ,
Zelunium (25731) ,
Shadowdecon (25729) and
Etel Dust (1000322) !
Don't sleep on those, as you will use thousands of them to craft equipment like
Moan of Corruption [1] (470204) , transform into
Blacksmith's Blessing (6635) to refine or craft your shadow gear!
What and where to farm

Good zeny and xp farming. This map tends to be easier to us IGs as monster has weakness to holy. Good starting map! | |
240+ | Clock Tower Unknown Basement | Warper > Dungeons > Clock Tower Unknown Basement

Phase Three - Gear Progression Table
Position | Equipment | Note |
---|---|---|
Head - Top | +9 C ![]() |
To craft Vesper Helmet
Grade it only to C as anything further will not be worth it as we will change our headgear later on. |
Head - Mid | ![]() |

Hit these enchants:
|
Body | +11 ![]() +9~+11 |
For Gray Wolf: ![]() ![]() ![]() For Snow Flower: |
Weapon | +9 ![]() +12A |
You will start your journey on refining and grading equipment with this one. Hopefully it has a refine box, so it's pretty easy to begin and to understand.
Check the next table to get a glimpse on how to do it. Aim for these enchants: |
Robe | +11 ![]() +9 |
Check Choi's Mini Guide on how to craft CMW or alternatively use a Glacier Manteau. I think that CMW is easier and better at this point. If you choose Glacier, use these enchants: |
Shoes | +9 C ![]() |
This will be our first end game item. We only need it grade C for now. Prioritize this along the dim glacier weapon. |
Accessory (Right) | ![]()
|
For Brilliant Enchants: Any Happiness, Any Destructive Evil.
For Sinful Enchants: Any Horror, Any Dragon Scale. I recommend at least level 3 for both. |

Encroached Magical Crystal (1001031)
- 110x
Neutralized Magical Crystal (1001032)

To do the grade, each attempt will consume it specific Etel Stone, which can be bought from Grade Enhancer Garm at (grademk 33, 183) with Etel Stone (1000323) and the correct stone.
All of the stones can be bought at Jeweler at (morocc 165, 54)

Phase Four
We're almost at End Game. Time to make some of the tougher gears. You can skip to Phase Five if you think you can comfortably get the Equipment from Constellation Tower (Hard), Alice Twisted Madness (Hard) and Depth 1 and 2.
What and where to farm
Level | Map/Story | Gear related | Related maps | Items to look for |

Entirely up to your choice at this point. If you are in a guild that constantly runs Constellation Tower you can start crafting your Nebula from scratch or you can buy one. Up to you! 12A Nebula will be a HUGE dps boost tho.
Enchants for Nebula: |
Weapon | +12A ![]() |
You will hold on your weapon for now, but you will soon change to the endgame weapon! |
Shield | +9 ![]() |
Finally it's time to switch our shield. This one will give you more surviveability and slightly more damage!

We are finally at the end. I can guarantee that you have spent at least a good ammount of hours to get here, but I can assure we are far from over! At this phase we will slowly upgrade each piece of our gear up until we have nothing more to change and the only possible upgrades are MVP cards and refines past +12!
Also I am also at this phase, so i havent tested or either have each piece that are suggested here! Please feel free to PM me with suggestions of gear to use at this point!
Our focus will revolve around the gear you get from Constellation Tower, Alice Twisted Madness, and Biosphere Depths and Depths 2. We will also switch over Vesper+Dim Glacier to Time Dimension Crown+Dimension Weapon.
Suggested priority to upgrade
Unlikely the other phases, I will put a priority suggestion so you can try to upgrade each one at a time:
- 9 [A]
Time Dimensions Rune Crown (Imperial Guard) [1] (400530) &12 [A]
Dimensions Imperial Sword [2] (500092) (You NEED both at grade A, otherwise dim glacier is better)
- 11 [A]
Moan of Corruption [1] (470204)
- 11 [A]
Death Rune Manteau [1] (480233)
- 12 [A]
Nebula Robe of Spell [1] (450173) , if you haven't yet
- 12 [A]
Moan of Corruption [1] (470204)
Gambler's Seal [1] (410233) and
Ace of Spades in Mouth (Magical) (420213)
- Varmundt Rings (Varmundt rings will only be better than Brilliant/Sinful if you get
Intelligence of Varmundt Lv5 (311958) beyond lv 3, that is why the rings are bottom of the priority!)
Again, take this with a grain of salt and decide for yourself what's the best next upgrade you should focus on!
The Engraved Soul Purification Rune Robe [1] (450284) is the better armor, particularly against bosses. However, you will still likely need Nebula Robe of Spell [1] (450173) before being able to farm Biosphere Depths effectively. Once we get the Hall of Life update, it seems that Nebula will be the better armour because of the new enchants!
