Hello, I'm Maikoa, one of the few insane people who decided "Magic AC is fun and I'm going to main it."  I've played multiple MMOs throughout my life, RO being the very first. I don't play it as my main game anymore currently but you'll see me talk in the Discord a lot either hating on someone or helping new people who need stuff clarified.

So, giving you guys a heads up before you decide to play Abyss Chaser and any of its variants (Magic, Ranged or Melee) that this class isn't the best general farmer. I'm not going to explain why for the other damage types (Melee and Ranged) as this is a Magic guide but the main reason Magic isn't an amazing general farmer is due to well, being Melee and autocast based classes aren't really good at mobs that die in 1 hit. Another reason is Abyss Square, our strongest damaging spell, has a 3 second cooldown. THIS IS A MASSIVE DOWNSIDE and basically stops us from spamming Abyss Square. Now if both of those reason didn't dissuade you from playing Abyss Chaser,  well then, let's get's started, brothers and sisters

'''<big>FURIOUS GEARS NOTE:</big>''' Furious Gears just got released. NOT WORTH. The amount of mats you need to make is 3x more than what it needs for you to make your Flush Weapon and 2x more than a Dim Glacier Dagger and even then it still loses out to Flush MK47. That's not even considering the fact that you need the full set to make it be worth your time. MOAN IS GIGABIS in Boots. You drop moan = you might as well reroll to a physical class

That's pretty much all for the guide. I'll update it as time passes on as long as I'm still playing the game
I'd like to thank my guild, Niflheim (no, we're not recruiting) and guildmates - Erik Steel, Solfernia, Sancia/Phillira, Kyukobi/Darkfall, Yuna Ryugen, Manila Clam, Zyonn, Leticia and Chirp. Without these guys, I would've been gone by the first 2 weeks of my stay in this server yet here we are, 4 months in and a guide
[[File:Paul-rudd-hot-ones.gif|300px]]
To Miku, Artem, CY, Jinbou and the others that made the Mage Channel the gossip channel and helped when I was just beginning, you guys rule.
PS: There was supposed to be a levelling guide but who am I kidding? I got boosted from 140 to 200. lmao

Introduction

Hello, I'm Maikoa, one of the few insane people who decided "Magic AC is fun and I'm going to main it." I've played multiple MMOs throughout my life, RO being the very first. I don't play it as my main game anymore currently but you'll see me talk in the Discord a lot either hating on someone or helping new people who need stuff clarified.

Why make a guide, you ask? well, better have one than none, amirite? [insert smug dog pic here]

"But you don't play it as your main game anymore." Well, this was a long overdue guide and I decided to just finish it recently. I still hop on to the game from time to time to do some farming so I guess I still have some credibility

Notes

Stats/Traits

Farming (Niflheim Floor 2, Mjolnir's Underground Cave, Biosphere: Temple)

NOTE: These can also apply to areas before said locations, I just put them there because they are currently the trinity of best farm areas

These are stats you use should for general farming when there's actually no hard mob to kill you or you basically 1 shot every mob already.

Stats

  • WIS - 35; MRES is good. you have a high enough agi pool to just dodge most physical dmg

End Game (Varmundt's Biosphere: Depths and Varmundt's Biosphere: Depths Abyss)

These are stats you use should for when you decided that you're a big boy already or you have the gears to be a big boy already

Gray Wolf Enchants: 310532.png Wolf Orb (Shadow Spell) (310532) , 310510.png Wolf Orb (Mage) Lv.3 (310510) , 310507.png Wolf Orb (Mage) Lv.2 (310507)

Convertible Magical Armor: This is a new armor line released on (10/10/2024), This is a good option if you dislike enchanting but you will need to +12 this or the garment to maximize the combo potential it has

Weapon +9 510061.png Glacier Rogue Knife (510061) or

+11[B] 510040.png Magic Sword-LT [2] (510040)

Issgard Equipment (Glacier Rogue Knife)

Glacier Rouge Knife Enchants: 311288.png Glacier Flower Spell (Abyss Square) (311288) , 311349.png Glacier Flower Spell (Magical - Race) (311349) , 311353.png Glacier Flower Spell (Magical - Element) (311353) , 311343.png Glacier Flower Spell (MATK) (311343)

"Why Magic Sword-LT?" - It gives you a really well rounded stats that Abyss Chaser really wants + you have access to autocasting Psychic Wave which is a good bonus damage increase

Shield +11 460017.png Illusion Guard [1] (460017) Illusion of Twins Enchant with 2x 29001.png Rune of Intellect Lv2 (29001)
Garment +11 480125.png Convertible Magical Wing [1] (480125) Convertible Wings Really good mid-game option that pairs really well with Battle Processor for more MATK and Magical Damage against every Element

Accessory

(Right)

490064.png Brilliant Light Sapphire Ring [1] (490064) Brilliant Light Accessories Look for the following Enchants: 310254.png Destructive Evil Lv3 (310254) , 310224.png Happiness Lv3 (310224)

(I'm not gonna suggest to try and find more than lvl 3 because this is basically a midgame accessory and we don't want you spending your hard earned zeny on something you will replace later on, however, if you do get more than Lvl 3, just keep it)

Accessory (Left) 490065.png Brilliant Light Sapphire Necklace [1] (490065) Brilliant Light Accessories Look for the following Enchants: 310254.png Destructive Evil Lv3 (310254) , 310224.png Happiness Lv3 (310224)

(I'm not gonna suggest to try and find more than lvl 3 because this is basically a midgame accessory and we don't want you spending your hard earned zeny on something you will replace later on, however, if you do get more than Lvl 3, just keep it)

Late/End Game

Type Gear Where to Get Notes
Upper +12[A] 400111.png Vesper Headgear [1] (400111) Equipment Crafting Sadly, we can't use Time Dimension Rune Crown because we're magic but Vesper is the best we can do. Can go +14 based on preference
Middle 410233.png Gambler's Seal [1] (410233) Alice Twisted Madness Really good flexible middle slot; Enchants to aim for: 9-10% increases all property magical damage, 9-10 S.MATK, 9-10% MATK
Lower 420213.png Ace of Spades in Mouth (Magical) (420213) Alice Twisted Madness Pretty straightforward combo with Gambler's Seal, Ideal enchants are +5 Int/Vit + +7 S.MATK/+7% Increases all property magical damage
Armor +12[A] 450280.png Soul Purification Rune Robe [1] (450280) or

+12[A] 450173.png Nebula Robe of Spell [1] (450173)

Varmundt's Biosphere Depth(Soul Purification Rune Robe)

Constellation Tower (Nebula Robe of Spell)

Soul Purification Rune Robe Enchants: 312374.png Soul Purification Rune 10Lv (312374) , 312364.png Purification Rune 5Lv (312364) , 312359.png Soul Rune 5Lv (312359)

Nebula Robe of Spell Enchants: 310688.png Star Cluster of Spell Lv.3 (310688) , 310738.png Nebula of Spell Lv.3 (310738) , 4714.png INT+5 (4714)

Why SPRR: Hands down the best damage and defensive armor with the current patch

Why Nebula Robe of Spell: You're future-proofing for the upcoming HOL update because it becomes BIS by then

Weapon +12[A] 510077.png Flush Jewel Detector Mk47 [2] (510077) or

+12[A] 510075.png Dim Glacier Rogue Knife [1] (510075)

Einbech Weapons (Flush Jewel Detector Mk47)

Issgard Equipment (Dim Glacier)

Flush Jewel Detector Mk47 Enchants: 311393.png Expert Magician Lv5 (311393) , 311394.png After Attack Delay Lv5 (311394)

Dim Glacier Rogue Knife Enchants: 311458.png Glacier Flower Spell (Magical Grade) Lv5 (311458) , 311288.png Glacier Flower Spell (Abyss Square) (311288) , 311288.png Glacier Flower Spell (Abyss Square) (311288)

Why Flush over Dim Glacier: Gives overall higher damage, extra Abyss Square 60% Damage is not to be sneezed at since it's our main damage source. Also, 2 slots > 1 slot

Why Dim Glacier over Flush: Well, because you're a cheapo, basically or you wanted the bonus +1SPL/CON and +3S.MAtk at +14/+15

Shield +12[A] 460020.png Mad Bunny-LT [1] (460020) Alice Twisted Madness Enchants: 310856.png Attack Speed Lv.3 (310856) /310872.png Magical Lv.3 (310872) /310875.png HP Lv.3 (310875)

Very well rounded shield which gives us all of the stats we want as AC.

"But why these enchants" you ask? AC doesn't really use VCT as much unless you like hard casting like me, but then again, you just get it from other sources. We have no use for ACD, our main damage is a 3 second cooldown when casted. no amount of ACD is going to save us from that

Garment +12[A] 480233.png Death Rune Manteau [1] (480233) Varmundt's Biosphere 311876.png Varmundt's Crystal(Glade) Lv5 (311876) , 310925.png Spell of Varmundt Lv3 (310925) , 4714.png INT+5 (4714)

Note: 2nd slot enchants of Death Rune Manteau is pure preference. I like this the most so I suggested it

Shoes +12[A] 470204.png Moan of Corruption [1] (470204) Equipment Crafting Best Magic-based Boots in the game, hands down. If you're not using this, it's probably because you're using drop rate boots. If not, just put the fries in the bag, lil bro
Accessory

490304.png Temple Rune Ring [1] (490304) or

490136.png Stellar Spell Seal [1] (490136)

Varmundt's Biosphere (Temple Rune Ring)

Constellation Tower (Stellar Spell Seal)

Temple Rune Ring Enchants: 311943.png Brilliant Biosphere Gem (Boss Type) (311943) or 311935.png Brilliant Biosphere Gem (Vibra-rupt) (311935) , 311958.png Intelligence of Varmundt Lv5 (311958) , 311998.png Fragment of Varmundt (SPL) Lv5 (311998)

Stellar Spell Seal Enchants: 310711.png Star of Spell Lv.5 (310711) , 310711.png Star of Spell Lv.5 (310711)

Why TRR? D A M A G E

Why Stellar Spell Seal? Future proofing as usual or you like the VCT like me because you like to cast Abyss Square from time to time

Note: 2nd slot enchants of TRR is pure preference. I like these the most so I suggested them

Accessory

490307.png Temple Magic Ring [1] (490307) Varmundt's Biosphere 311943.png Brilliant Biosphere Gem (Boss Type) (311943) or 311935.png Brilliant Biosphere Gem (Vibra-rupt) (311935) , 311958.png Intelligence of Varmundt Lv5 (311958) , 311998.png Fragment of Varmundt (SPL) Lv5 (311998)

Note: 2nd slot enchants of TMR is pure preference. I like these the most so I suggested them

FURIOUS GEARS NOTE: Furious Gears just got released.

Cards

Type Card Notes
Upper 27310.png Plaga Card (27310) , 4366.png Katrinn Card (4366)

MVP Pick:300377.png [MVP] Ultra Limacina Card (300377) , 4374.png [MVP] Vesper Card (4374) , 4556.png [MVP] Fenrir Card (4556)

You can use Katrinn card if you like casting. Purely optional pick. Otherwise, Neutral Damage good

MVP Reason: Ultra Limacina - SMATK per 3 Refine = GOOD, Vesper - Combos with your BIS Headgear, Fenrir - MATK per Refine = GOOD

Middle 300251.png Plagarion Card (300251) , 300459.png Elite Rgan Healer Card (300459)

MVP Pick: 4403.png [MVP] Kiel Card (4403)

Neutral DMG good, Use Elite Rgan Healer if using Jormungandr Guardian Card

MVP Reason: Heard from another server that double Kiel (yes, double) AC is really good. Have to test it yourself but I'll leave it here as a valid pick

Armor 300376.png Two Eyes Dollocaris Card (300376)

if armor isn't +12, 300308.png Meyer Lugenburg Card (300308)

MVP Pick: 300472.png [MVP] Demigod Lasgand Card (300472)

30% HP is nothing to sneeze at. Really good offensive and defensive card

MVP Reason: Do I even need to say why?

Weapon 300460.png Jormungandr Guardian Card (300460) , 300455.png Copo Card (300455) , 27384.png Mutating White Knight Card (27384)

MVP Pick: N/A

Jormungandr Guardian is top notch, a lot of Neutral DMG %, Combo with Elite Rgan Healer Card, Copo/MWK Card are standard size modifiers. Always a good choice to have at least one
Shield 300379.png Modified Senior Rgan Card (300379)

if shield isn't +12 27385.png Mutating Khalitzburg Card (27385)

MVP Pick: 4128.png [MVP] Golden Thief Bug Card (4128)

More %DMG Mitigation = Better survivability

MVP Reason: Earthquake? Denied

Garment 300375.png One Eye Dollocaris Card (300375)

if garment isn't +12 300424.png Friedrich S. Heine Card (300424)

MVP Pick: 4682.png [MVP] Shadow Chaser Gertie Card (4682)

More Neutral DMG%

MVP Reason: S T A T S + 10% MATK; "But why not Himmelmez" I mean, you're free to do so. Just don't go crying when you can't hit any mob in melee because you're always dead

Shoes 300458.png Icewind Card (300458) , 4658.png Nightmare Verit Card (4658)

MVP Pick: 4441.png [MVP] Falling Bishop Card (4441) , 300248.png [MVP] Death Witch Card (300248)

Icewind combos with Copo, only use when using Copo, otherwise, Nightmare Verit is good as is

MVP Reason: Falling Bishop pairs really well with Moan of Corruption, Death Witch mainly because me and my homies hate Formless

Accessory

(Right)

300470.png Icebear Card (300470)

MVP Pick: 4145.png [MVP] Beelzebub Card (4145)

Icebear... Neutral DMG +25%. not much else to say

MVP Reason: Only if you really like casting Abyss Square otherwise, no other recommendation. USE ONLY 1

Accessory

(Left)

300218.png Ashhopper Card (300218)

MVP Pick: 4145.png [MVP] Beelzebub Card (4145)

Final Words

That's pretty much all for the guide. I'll update it as time passes on as long as I'm still playing the game

I'd like to thank my guild, Niflheim (no, we're not recruiting) and guildmates - Erik Steel, Solfernia, Sancia/Phillira, Kyukobi/Darkfall, Yuna Ryugen, Manila Clam, Zyonn, Leticia and Chirp. Without these guys, I would've been gone by the first 2 weeks of my stay in this server yet here we are, 4 months in and a guide

To Miku, Artem, CY, Jinbou and the others that made the Mage Channel the gossip channel and helped when I was just beginning, you guys rule.

PS: There was supposed to be a levelling guide but who am I kidding? I got boosted from 140 to 200. lmao
