Hello, I'm Maikoa, one of the few insane people who decided "Magic AC is fun and I'm going to main it." I've played multiple MMOs throughout my life, RO being the very first. "But you don't play it as your main game anymore." Well, this was a long overdue guide and I decided to just finish it recently. I still hop on to the game from time to time to do some farming so I guess I still have some credibility | |||
== <big>Notes</big> == | |||
So, giving you guys a heads up before you decide to play Abyss Chaser and any of its variants (Magic, Ranged or Melee) that this class isn't the best general farmer. I'm not going to explain why for the other damage types (Melee and Ranged) as this is a Magic guide but the main reason Magic isn't an amazing general farmer is due to well, being Melee and autocast based classes aren't really good at mobs that die in 1 hit. Another reason is Abyss Square, our strongest damaging spell, has a 3 second cooldown. THIS IS A MASSIVE DOWNSIDE and basically stops us from spamming Abyss Square. Now if both of those reason didn't dissuade you from playing Abyss Chaser, well then, let's get's started, brothers and sisters | |||
= Stats/Traits = | = Stats/Traits = | ||
=== <big>Farming (Niflheim Floor 2, Mjolnir's Underground Cave, Biosphere: Temple)</big> === | |||
NOTE: These can also apply to areas before said locations, I just put them there because they are currently the trinity of best farm areas | |||
These are stats you use should for general farming when there's actually no hard mob to kill you or you basically 1 shot every mob already. | |||
====== Stats ====== | |||
* STR - 66 (all remaining points here); Carry Weight | |||
* AGI - 120; ASPD, Pretty self explanatory | |||
* VIT - 110; This one is personal preference but I like having a decent HP pool whenever I mob so I don't get bursted down by mobs of 10-15 | |||
* INT - 120; MATK is your best friend. | |||
* DEX - 100; This one is personal preference as well, I like the added HIT so I always make sure I have 100 + extra ASPD always helps | |||
* LUK - 1; Just bring panacea when you get cursed, I mean, you have to bring it anyways when you get confused in biosphere: temple so.. might as well | |||
====== Traits ====== | |||
* SPL - 110; It's time to P U M P | |||
* CON - 100; the lower your con, the lower you chances of hitting mobs (Yes, it has happened to me; No, it's not funny) | |||
* WIS - 35; MRES is good. you have a high enough agi pool to just dodge most physical dmg | |||
=== <big>End Game (Varmundt's Biosphere: Depths and Varmundt's Biosphere: Depths Abyss)</big> === | |||
These are stats you use should for when you decided that you're a big boy already or you have the gears to be a big boy already | |||
====== Stats ====== | |||
* STR - 1; Nothing in the end game areas has a ton of weight. Not needed | |||
* AGI - 120; ASPD, Pretty self explanatory | |||
* VIT - 110; DO NOT LOWER THAN 110; The D1 and D2 maps are very punishing and every bit of HP really helps here | |||
* INT - 120; MATK is your best friend. | |||
* DEX - 100; This one can be lower but I have never tried going below 100; If you decide this is going to be lower, put the other points in VIT | |||
* LUK - 100; This time around, LUK is vital in not pissing yourself off due to the amount of mass curses that happens in Depths Abss. Gives you immunity to curse which lets you move fast and continue to steam roll. | |||
====== Traits ====== | |||
* SPL - 110; It's time to P U M P | |||
* CON - 100; the lower your con, the lower you chances of hitting mobs (Yes, it has happened to me; No, it's not funny) | |||
* WIS - 35; MRES is good. you have a high enough agi pool to just dodge most physical dmg | |||

"But why these enchants" you ask? AC doesn't really use VCT as much unless you like hard casting like me, but then again, you just get it from other sources. We have no use for ACD, our main damage is a 3 second cooldown when casted. no amount of ACD is going to save us from that | |||

'''<big>FURIOUS GEARS NOTE:</big>''' Furious Gears just got released. NOT WORTH. The amount of mats you need to make is 3x more than what it needs for you to make your Flush Weapon and 2x more than a Dim Glacier Dagger and even then it still loses out to Flush MK47. That's not even considering the fact that you need the full set to make it be worth your time. MOAN IS GIGABIS in Boots. You drop moan = you might as well reroll to a physical class | |||

Introduction
Hello, I'm Maikoa, one of the few insane people who decided "Magic AC is fun and I'm going to main it." I've played multiple MMOs throughout my life, RO being the very first. I don't play it as my main game anymore currently but you'll see me talk in the Discord a lot either hating on someone or helping new people who need stuff clarified.
Why make a guide, you ask? well, better have one than none, amirite? [insert smug dog pic here]
"But you don't play it as your main game anymore." Well, this was a long overdue guide and I decided to just finish it recently. I still hop on to the game from time to time to do some farming so I guess I still have some credibility
Notes
Now if both of those reason didn't dissuade you from playing Abyss Chaser, well then, let's get's started, brothers and sisters
Stats/Traits
Farming (Niflheim Floor 2, Mjolnir's Underground Cave, Biosphere: Temple)
NOTE: These can also apply to areas before said locations, I just put them there because they are currently the trinity of best farm areas
These are stats you use should for general farming when there's actually no hard mob to kill you or you basically 1 shot every mob already.
Stats
- STR - 66 (all remaining points here); Carry Weight
- AGI - 120; ASPD, Pretty self explanatory
- VIT - 110; This one is personal preference but I like having a decent HP pool whenever I mob so I don't get bursted down by mobs of 10-15
- INT - 120; MATK is your best friend.
- DEX - 100; This one is personal preference as well, I like the added HIT so I always make sure I have 100 + extra ASPD always helps
- LUK - 1; Just bring panacea when you get cursed, I mean, you have to bring it anyways when you get confused in biosphere: temple so.. might as well
Traits
- SPL - 110; It's time to P U M P
- CON - 100; the lower your con, the lower you chances of hitting mobs (Yes, it has happened to me; No, it's not funny)
- WIS - 35; MRES is good. you have a high enough agi pool to just dodge most physical dmg
End Game (Varmundt's Biosphere: Depths and Varmundt's Biosphere: Depths Abyss)
These are stats you use should for when you decided that you're a big boy already or you have the gears to be a big boy already
Stats
- STR - 1; Nothing in the end game areas has a ton of weight. Not needed
- AGI - 120; ASPD, Pretty self explanatory
- VIT - 110; DO NOT LOWER THAN 110; The D1 and D2 maps are very punishing and every bit of HP really helps here
- INT - 120; MATK is your best friend.
- DEX - 100; This one can be lower but I have never tried going below 100; If you decide this is going to be lower, put the other points in VIT
- LUK - 100; This time around, LUK is vital in not pissing yourself off due to the amount of mass curses that happens in Depths Abss. Gives you immunity to curse which lets you move fast and continue to steam roll.
Traits
- SPL - 110; It's time to P U M P
- CON - 100; the lower your con, the lower you chances of hitting mobs (Yes, it has happened to me; No, it's not funny)
- WIS - 35; MRES is good. you have a high enough agi pool to just dodge most physical dmg

"Why Magic Sword-LT?" - It gives you a really well rounded stats that Abyss Chaser really wants + you have access to autocasting Psychic Wave which is a good bonus damage increase |
Shield | +11 Illusion Guard [1] (460017) | Illusion of Twins | Enchant with 2x Rune of Intellect Lv2 (29001) |

Accessory
(Right) |
Brilliant Light Sapphire Ring [1] (490064) | Brilliant Light Accessories | Look for the following Enchants: Destructive Evil Lv3 (310254) , Happiness Lv3 (310224)
(I'm not gonna suggest to try and find more than lvl 3 because this is basically a midgame accessory and we don't want you spending your hard earned zeny on something you will replace later on, however, if you do get more than Lvl 3, just keep it) |
Accessory (Left) | Brilliant Light Sapphire Necklace [1] (490065) | Brilliant Light Accessories | Look for the following Enchants: Destructive Evil Lv3 (310254) , Happiness Lv3 (310224)
(I'm not gonna suggest to try and find more than lvl 3 because this is basically a midgame accessory and we don't want you spending your hard earned zeny on something you will replace later on, however, if you do get more than Lvl 3, just keep it) |
Late/End Game
Type | Gear | Where to Get | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Upper | +12[A] Vesper Headgear [1] (400111) | Equipment Crafting | Sadly, we can't use Time Dimension Rune Crown because we're magic but Vesper is the best we can do. Can go +14 based on preference |
Middle | Gambler's Seal [1] (410233) | Alice Twisted Madness | Really good flexible middle slot; Enchants to aim for: 9-10% increases all property magical damage, 9-10 S.MATK, 9-10% MATK |
Lower | Ace of Spades in Mouth (Magical) (420213) | Alice Twisted Madness | Pretty straightforward combo with Gambler's Seal, Ideal enchants are +5 Int/Vit + +7 S.MATK/+7% Increases all property magical damage |
Armor | +12[A] Soul Purification Rune Robe [1] (450280) or
+12[A] Nebula Robe of Spell [1] (450173) |
Varmundt's Biosphere Depth(Soul Purification Rune Robe)
Constellation Tower (Nebula Robe of Spell) |
Soul Purification Rune Robe Enchants: Soul Purification Rune 10Lv (312374) , Purification Rune 5Lv (312364) , Soul Rune 5Lv (312359)
Nebula Robe of Spell Enchants: Star Cluster of Spell Lv.3 (310688) , Nebula of Spell Lv.3 (310738) , INT+5 (4714) Why SPRR: Hands down the best damage and defensive armor with the current patch Why Nebula Robe of Spell: You're future-proofing for the upcoming HOL update because it becomes BIS by then |
Weapon | +12[A] Flush Jewel Detector Mk47 [2] (510077) or
+12[A] Dim Glacier Rogue Knife [1] (510075) |
Einbech Weapons (Flush Jewel Detector Mk47)
Issgard Equipment (Dim Glacier) |
Flush Jewel Detector Mk47 Enchants: Expert Magician Lv5 (311393) , After Attack Delay Lv5 (311394)
Dim Glacier Rogue Knife Enchants: Glacier Flower Spell (Magical Grade) Lv5 (311458) , Glacier Flower Spell (Abyss Square) (311288) , Glacier Flower Spell (Abyss Square) (311288) Why Flush over Dim Glacier: Gives overall higher damage, extra Abyss Square 60% Damage is not to be sneezed at since it's our main damage source. Also, 2 slots > 1 slot Why Dim Glacier over Flush: Well, because you're a cheapo, basically or you wanted the bonus +1SPL/CON and +3S.MAtk at +14/+15 |
Shield | +12[A] Mad Bunny-LT [1] (460020) | Alice Twisted Madness | Enchants: Attack Speed Lv.3 (310856) / Magical Lv.3 (310872) / HP Lv.3 (310875)
Very well rounded shield which gives us all of the stats we want as AC. "But why these enchants" you ask? AC doesn't really use VCT as much unless you like hard casting like me, but then again, you just get it from other sources. We have no use for ACD, our main damage is a 3 second cooldown when casted. no amount of ACD is going to save us from that |
Garment | +12[A] Death Rune Manteau [1] (480233) | Varmundt's Biosphere | Varmundt's Crystal(Glade) Lv5 (311876) , Spell of Varmundt Lv3 (310925) , INT+5 (4714)
Note: 2nd slot enchants of Death Rune Manteau is pure preference. I like this the most so I suggested it |
Shoes | +12[A] Moan of Corruption [1] (470204) | Equipment Crafting | Best Magic-based Boots in the game, hands down. If you're not using this, it's probably because you're using drop rate boots. If not, just put the fries in the bag, lil bro |
Accessory
(Right) |
Temple Rune Ring [1] (490304) or
Stellar Spell Seal [1] (490136) |
Varmundt's Biosphere (Temple Rune Ring)

Stellar Spell Seal Enchants: Star of Spell Lv.5 (310711) , Star of Spell Lv.5 (310711) Why TRR? D A M A G E Why Stellar Spell Seal? Future proofing as usual or you like the VCT like me because you like to cast Abyss Square from time to time Note: 2nd slot enchants of TRR is pure preference. I like these the most so I suggested them |
Accessory
(Left) |
Temple Magic Ring [1] (490307) | Varmundt's Biosphere | Brilliant Biosphere Gem (Boss Type) (311943) or Brilliant Biosphere Gem (Vibra-rupt) (311935) , Intelligence of Varmundt Lv5 (311958) , Fragment of Varmundt (SPL) Lv5 (311998)
Note: 2nd slot enchants of TMR is pure preference. I like these the most so I suggested them |
FURIOUS GEARS NOTE: Furious Gears just got released. You drop moan = you might as well reroll to a physical class

That's pretty much all for the guide. I'll update it as time passes on as long as I'm still playing the game
I'd like to thank my guild, Niflheim (no, we're not recruiting) and guildmates - Erik Steel, Solfernia, Sancia/Phillira, Kyukobi/Darkfall, Yuna Ryugen, Manila Clam, Zyonn, Leticia and Chirp. Without these guys, I would've been gone by the first 2 weeks of my stay in this server yet here we are, 4 months in and a guide
To Miku, Artem, CY, Jinbou and the others that made the Mage Channel the gossip channel and helped when I was just beginning, you guys rule.
PS: There was supposed to be a levelling guide but who am I kidding? I got boosted from 140 to 200. lmao
