Chisa's Battleground Arch Bishop Guide
Introduction
Hello, it’s nice to meet you. My name is Chisa and I’ll be walking you step by step in this guide, towards starting your PvP Arch Bishop (AB) journey in PvP! At the moment, this guide is only for Full Support build, but if we ask nicely, maybe a certain veteran Adoramus AB player in BG will write up a guide for that in the future...? (winkwink you know who you are!)
DISCLAIMER: Everything written in this guide is based on my experience both in WoE and Battlegrounds (BG); however, this guide will be focused on BG, as it’s currently (as of May 2025) the only playable PvP game mode in MuhRO. This guide is neither exhaustive nor an universal truth, and the world of PvP is infinite – on your own, you might adapt, find a better play style, and better gear sets. And when you do... oh, I’ll be the proudest guide writer in the entire Muhniverse.
In any case, if you are reading this far, that means you have an interest in playing AB in PvP environments. Cool, you’re now part of the gang! Before we start, I’d like to explain the pros and cons of this class. Gotta know what you sign up for, right?
Pros and Cons – Who’s this class for?
As we all know, AB is a highly prized support class with a large repertoire of buffs, debuff-clearing, and defensive skills. Sure, sure, BG could and will work without an AB, but with the existence of an AB, surviving on the field would be a way easier task, with readily available Lauda when a teammate is crystallized and pneumas laid down.
AB is perfect for you, who are:
- New to PvP – playing support classes is the best way to get into PvP, and I will die on this hill. The reason is because as a support player, you are running around with full resist gears so it’s harder for you to die. You will have time to look around, observe how others play, learn proper potting, and most importantly, it’s harder to feel negative emotions (i.e getting tilted) when you play support classes, so it’s good for your psyche too as you navigate through BG as a chickling. You will die a lot, after all, but it’s less frustrating than when you’re on your DPS set trying to kill someone else.
- Someone who likes playing a class with many buttons, who’s always on their feet, observing.
- Already an AB main from PvM! Some play style adjustments are required, but if you’re used to playing AB, it should be easy peasy.
Here are some of the pros and cons of the class.
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Quite tanky with many defensive skills (Pneuma, Safety Wall) | If you’re rolled into a team with no DPS, there will be nothing for you to do, unfortunately |
Fairly easy to play – for starters, as long as you give buffs and click Lauda at the right time, you’re good | If you’re used to playing DPS, the AB game play might leave you wanting to do “more” |
It’s fun and allows you some leeway to learn - not a tilting class | Alone, there’s really nothing much you can do |
On Preparing Your Character
Stats
Stats is where you can let your creativity fly – but make sure you put it in while taking into account PvP area's permanent +30 stats buff (you can do this easily by adjusting stats in the FFA PvP Arena). For rough guidelines I’d go for 120 VIT, 120 DEX, total of 100 LUK, some AGI, INT, and rest on STR. Don’t forget to join a clan on the second floor of the main office, as well. Here are some things to note when putting in your stat points.
Status | Effect |
---|---|
STR | Adds weight, it helps with reducing the success rate of Masquerade (Shadow Chaser debuff skill.) |
AGI | Adds ASPD, also helps with reducing the success rate of Masquerade skill on you. |
VIT | Adds mHP, gives Stun immunity on 100 points, and reduces Crystallise duration |
INT | Cast points, reduces Deep Sleep duration, and reduces the chance of Arrullo (Sorcerer debuff skill) on you. |
DEX | Cast points, a little bit of ASPD and some resistance to Strip Accessory (Shadow Chaser debuff skill.) |
LUK | Gives curse immunity on 100 points OR 0 points, reduces Mandragora Howling (Geneticist debuff skill) chance, and also reduces Arrullo chance |
Skills
Again, when it comes to skills, it depends on what you like to use. However, there are some skills you will benefit from having, so here’s my skill tree for reference.

Gears
I have already covered medium set gears on this other guide here, but for clarity’s sake I will still write it down here with AB-only gears. Remember that this is just the barebones for you to work with, you can always adjust it to your needs.

For the stats, here's an easy cheat sheet: for extra Crit Shield/Masq Resist = LUK. For extra ASPD = AGI. For extra mHP = VIT. For extra cast points and Strip Accessory resist = DEX. |

Other shadow gear slots depend on the utility you want/need | +9 | Any utility you need | - | Hiding is always good to mitigate damage or defend yourself from Shadow Chasers/AoE spells. Otherwise, take anything you need. |
Costume Stones also depend on the utility you need | - | - | - | Recommending FCT, ACD, ASPD, or mHP, but take anything you need. |
Swaps
Personally, as an AB player, I have multiple armors and garments for swapping against different opponents. This might be a bit overwhelming for a new player, so you can just go with your default set and work from there. However, there are some gears that you might want to ease yourself into using from early in the game:
- Any garment with
Randel Card (4572) for Auto Guard skill.
- +6
Vellum Bible (1586) for no cooldown Lauda and Clearance.
On Inventory and Restock
This section will be all about preparing your consumables for BG. There are a few things you need to keep in mind when putting things in your inventory:
- Bring just enough items for one restock. Shadow Chaser’s debuff skills, Masquerades’ chance of hitting is affected by your weight. It’s always good to keep your weight down to a maximum of 15%, or lower if possible. That’s why, I recommend every player to have at least Lv. 10
Gym Pass (7776) , or even Lv. 20 if your resources allow.
- Make a restock list. Before you warp into BG, on the graveyard when you die, always do an @restock to get your consumables game on top shape. You can make a restock list by using the command @restock add ItemID Amount.
- Every consumable you need as an AB is available on Telma (bat_room 160, 148), and you can purchase them with War Badges. If it’s your first BG and you have none, just join without bringing anything first, and take your time getting consumables after you’re done with your first round.
What to Bring
Again, I’ve already covered this in the other BG guide, but for clarity’s sake, here it is, special for my fellow ABs.

Gameplay
Potting
In BG, you have to learn “prepotting.” This means to hold your potion button before anything even hits you. Most of the time, it will be too late if you start potting after you’re focused by other players (unless you have single digit ping, maybe). In PvP, there’s no such thing as saving your consumables – just use them, they are basically free, anyways. This is one of the first skills you have to learn to survive in PvP.
Buffing
Buffing is one of your primary jobs as an AB. In a more organized environment like WoE, I’d be able to tell you timings on buffing, but BG is a chaotic, lawless jungle – so this knowledge won't really matter. That’s why, I’ll just tell you what to keep in mind when buffing.
- Always full buff your friends at the start of the round. Your most prized buffs are Clementia, Canto Candidus, and Expiatio, and perhaps Sacrament. Lauda Agnus also gives some mHP boost, while Lauda Ramus gives Crit DMG%, so you might want to just click everything, including Gloria, Angelus, Renovatio, Impositio Manus, and Praefatio. The more buffs the better.
- It’s impossible to take note of all your teammates in BG. So, what I do is, I always default every teammate I bump into as someone with no buffs at all – either because they died or got dispelled. So, I click Clementia and Canto Candidus whenever I see people.
- Do NOT spam your party buffing skills. This is griefing as it will lock your teammates in animation.
Cleansing Debuffs
This is, arguably, the most important job for an AB. You have many, many skills to cleanse different debuffs, so make sure to learn about them (you can just click both Laudas in succession, too, but I suggest putting Lauda Agnus first since it clears Crystallize). Here’s a quick cheat sheet to know which skills clear which debuffs.
Skill | Debuff Cleansed |
---|---|
Lauda Ramus | Silence, Sleep, Stun, Deep Sleep, and Mandragora Howling |
Lauda Agnus | Freezing, Stone Curse, Dark Curse, Frozen, Crystallization, and Burning |
Cure | Silence, Chaos, and Blind |
Recovery | Frozen, Stone Curse, Performer traps |
Offertorium (self-cleanse only; alternative to Green Potions) | Darkness, Curse, Poison, Hallucination, Confusion, Bleeding, Burning, Freezing, Blind, Mandragora Howling, Guillotine Cross poison (except Oblivion Curse) |
Clearance | Almost every debuff and buff, except for some (most notably performer songs). It’s mostly used to cleanse Gloomy and Masqs. |
Safety Wall and Pneuma
Two of your strong, incredibly important protection skills. This one is self-explanatory, but don’t worry if you don’t get them down on your first BGs. Through playing more rounds, you’ll accustom yourself to the timing; you’ll also remember which player plays which builds, so you know how to defend yourself and others from them. Just keep playing and you’ll improve!
Closing
Honestly, even with this many words, it feels like I’m not even touching the surface of BG game play. So, here are some things I want you to remember as you skin-dip into BG:
- Remember, BG is a free for all game mode where anyone is free to switch classes, play anything they like, any way they want. You can’t expect organization – anything that can happen, will happen in BG. So just let it flow, play the best you can on your current condition.
- Don’t think too much of what other people say (unless they’re giving you advice), and learn at your own pace. We are all newbies at one point in our lives.
- Don’t get too caught up in your negative emotions. If you feel like your mental health is compromised, take a break. Your health is the most important.
- Try to communicate with other players in BG and liven up the community! They are all mostly very open and kind individuals, and they will most definitely try to answer your questions and help you to the best of their abilities. They don’t bite! People think PvP is full of beef – and I won’t say it’s not – but BG is the most friendly game mode there is, as people are not bound by guilds. Go make friends and have fun without caring about existing beefs!
Last but not least, have fun, and enjoy your time in BG! I can't wait to see you there!
