| [[Category:PVP Guides]]
| | deleted |
| == Introduction ==
| |
| This guide is mainly for a pure support playstyle of Sura in PVP, which is Cursed Circle. A skill to disable enemies within a 7x7 cell around you. It's a simple playstyle to get into but extremely effective if played properly.
| |
| | |
| Just to note, don't expect that you, yourself, can kill players with this playstyle, maybe tilt them and kill their mental, but not straight up kill them. So if you plan to play Sura expecting to kill people, this guide won't be for you.
| |
| | |
| <p style="color:red;"><u>'''DISCLAIMER:'''</u> Everything written in this guide is based off my own experience. PvP in RO is vast; there are plenty of builds and playstyles to explore. That said, this guide is just a very basic overview to start off with, you're free to build upon this further to fit your <b> own </b> playstyle or even find new gear sets to use.
| |
| === Pros and Cons ===
| |
| Sura is a very powerful and versatile class, and this is one of its variants. While this version cannot kill anyone, you are extremely tanky while being able to disrupt and disable key roles in battle with Cursed Circle. Furthermore, as you are an acolyte class, you can still help your team with Acolyte-based buffs such as Blessing, Agi, and Angelus while also laying down Pneuma in case your enemies have a strong ranged DPS such as Ranger, or even other Suras who are built for Gate of Hell.
| |
| | |
| As mentioned, one con of this build is that you cannot kill an enemy by yourself, requiring teammates to do it for you. This could be a problem in Battlegrounds as team are randomized and there is a chance that you will be paired with other supports as well. In some game modes, this won't be an issue as some are objective based, but if it requires killing, that's where it'll feel lacking. The good thing about the PvP here is that you can "Swap" equipments on the fly, so in the future, you can consider building another Sura variant to combo off with this build.
| |
| | |
| As a newbie, this is a good class to get into as it is extremely simple and very tanky.

| === Stats ===
| |
| There is really no one stat build for everyone as some equipments can give stats, but for a rough guideline, just try to have fast or instant cast (Dex*2 + Int = 530), high vit/HP and 193 ASPD. You can also opt for 100 LUK to be Curse immune, but as you're an Acolyte class, you can just bless yourself to remove it - but if you're too lazy (like me) just having a total of 100 LUK (stat bonuses included) is enough to have full immunity towards it. PvP Maps (WoE and BG) have +30 all stats to help reach these statlines, and one thing I do when I reset stats is enter the PvP Room -> Sandwich to allocate my stats there as that room also gives the same +30 all stat buff. The clan system on the 2nd floor of main office also allows you to get some additional stats.
| |
| | |
| 193 ASPD is mainly to help you Snap around, as it isn't gated by ACD, but by your attack speed.

| === Skills ===
| |
| Sura's have a plethora of skills, but to make things simple, these are the ones you'd mostly use.
| |
| | |
| {{#skill:2334}} - the main purpose of the build, used to disable enemies to prevent them from attacking and moving - allowing your teammates to get free hits on them.
| |
| <p> {{#skill:2338}} - a strong buff that allows a sura to have 15 spirit spheres and constantly be on the "Fury" state - also increases max HP making you tankier.</p>
| |
| <p> {{#skill:401}} - the main "resource" of Suras, you'll need to keep reapplying this to use some of your skills, one of which is {{#skill:2334}}. </p>
| |
| <p>{{#skill:270}} - needs 5 spirit spheres to cast, but allows you to snap indefinitely as long as this buff is active. </p>
| |
| <p>{{#skill:264}} - probably the main thing Suras are known for, high speed movement around the map, allowing them to get in and out of fights easily. For you, this allows you to home in on a target and disable them effectively. Usually requires 1 spirit sphere to cast, but none are needed if you are in "Fury" state. </p>
| |
| <p>{{#skill:2348}} - gives you more maxhp </p>
| |
| | |
| Rising Dragon has a cooldown even in BG, so if you die fast upon spawn, there is a chance you won't be able to cast it again upon revival.
| |
| | |
| As mentioned, these are the ones you'll generally use, but if you find yourself wanting to use other skills, feel free and experiment.
| |
| | |
| === Gears ===
| |
| Someone already made a medium set guide [[A Beginner's Guide to Battlegrounds|here]], which is pretty much what you want to aim for to start, but I'll include the Sura-only options. Remember that this is just the barebones for you to work with, you can always adjust it to your needs.

| | |
| Here's also another resource for easy navigation of [https://wiki.muhro.eu/Madame_Celery%27s_Guide_to_MuhRO#Card_List cards] you may want to use based on their effects/usage.

| == On Inventory and Restock ==
| |
| This section will be all about preparing your consumables for BG. There are a few things you need to keep in mind when putting things in your inventory:
| |
| # Bring just enough items for one restock. Shadow Chaser’s debuff skills, Masquerades’ chance of hitting is affected by your weight. It’s always good to keep your weight down to a maximum of 15%, or lower if possible. That’s why, I recommend every player to have at least Lv. 10 {{#item:7776}}, or even Lv. 20 if your resources allow.
| |
| # Make a restock list. Before you warp into BG, on the graveyard when you die, always do an @restock to get your consumables game on top shape. You can make a restock list by using the command '''@restock add ItemID Amount.'''
| |
| # Restock list is always the storage on top in your storage list, so put your restock items there

| == Gameplay ==
| |
| Your main job as mentioned, is to find key threats to disable with Cursed Circle and allow your teammates to get free hits. This doesn't always mean the enemy's DPS, sometimes the supports are more of a threat. The more you'll play, the better you'll identify who these key threats are to lock down.
| |
| | |
| <p> You can also help put down Pneumas to mitigate damage from long ranged DPS - allowing your own ranged DPS to shoot back with no fear (unless from melee or magic). Just be careful when placing these down as your enemies can use them as well. </p>
| |
| | |
| === Potting ===
| |
| In BG, you have to learn <b>“prepotting.”</b> This means to hold your potion button before anything even hits you. Most of the time, it will be too late if you start potting after you’re focused by other players (unless you have single digit ping, maybe). In PvP, there’s no such thing as saving your consumables – just use them, they are basically free, anyways. This is one of the first skills you have to learn to survive in PvP.
| |
| | |
| == Closing ==
| |
| # People in BG are very kind - though they may get heated during the battle, don't take it into heart as it may be the adrenaline of playing. Though some BG players may give advice or gear advice, there are also those who would prefer to keep their builds a secret. Please respect them as they may have theorycrafted it themselves, putting in their time crafting the build.
| |
| # Remember, BG is a free for all game mode where anyone is free to switch classes, play anything they like, any way they want. You can’t expect organization – anything that can happen, will happen in BG. So just let it flow, play the best you can on your current condition.
| |
| # Don’t get discouraged with dying a lot - this is normal. All of us have been new and have experienced this. Just take this into account when diving into BG - especially since there are a lot of people who are already experienced in PvP.
| |
| # With that said, if you feel like it stops being fun, and being annoyed/angry, take time to cool off - it's a game, it's meant to be fun while being competitive. Don't compromise your mental health for this. (Special shoutout to Luigi, pls stop gloomying me ty)
